Location: Bedford College – Brunel Road Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Note – Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Deliver Motor Vehicle Training – Teach and assess light vehicle maintenance and repair across various courses and qualification levels.
- Support Student Success – Guide learners through tutorials, monitor progress, and provide high-quality learning experiences tailored to individual needs.
- Develop Curriculum & Resources – Create schemes of work, implement innovative teaching materials, and contribute to new course development.
- Ensure Compliance & Quality – Maintain accurate records, meet awarding body standards, uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and participate in IQA processes.
- Engage in Promotion & Professional Growth – Take part in marketing activities, student recruitment, and proactively pursue training and development opportunities.
About you:
- Qualifications Required – Level 3 relevant qualification, GCSE English & Maths (or willingness to achieve), and commitment to gaining teaching and assessor/verifier credentials.
- Teaching & Industry Expertise – Recent experience delivering and assessing motor vehicle programmes, strong subject knowledge, and ability to apply current industry developments.
- Commitment to Equality & Safeguarding – Understanding of EDI principles, safeguarding responsibilities, and ability to maintain professional boundaries with learners.
- Skills & Attributes – Excellent organisation, interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to work to deadlines, and create a welcoming, supportive environment for students.
- Professional Values & Flexibility – Alignment with College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty), willingness to update skills, work across sites, and engage in continuous development.
