Esland's Bedford School are seeking a Nurture teacher to lead delivery in our Year 7 Nurture provision.
Hours: full time (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £28,618 to £41,137 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
The role entails planning and delivery of a targeted curriculum for some of our most vulnerable pupils who are not yet ready to access our secondary curriculum.
The role would be suitable for teachers with either primary or secondary QTS.
Experience of working with pupils with anxiety, Emotionally-based School Avoidance and/or ASD would be preferred.
Esland Bedford School is an independent SEMH special school for up to 50 children aged 8-18. The school provides education to day pupils, and via our unique Turning the Curve provision, to young people who have been disengaged from education for significant periods of time.
We aim to maintain a nurturing and accepting environment for young people who have not had their needs met in other settings. Likewise, we also aim to provide a work/life balance to staff not available in larger schools.

Qualification and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Degree qualification or equivalent
- Demonstrable outcomes for pupils as a teacher
- Experience as a KS2/KS3/KS4/KS5 teacher
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Expert understanding of inclusive pedagogy
- Experience of assessment without levels including tracking pupil progress
- Knowledge and understanding of statutory assessment arrangements at KS2 to KS5
- Knowledge and understanding of effective strategies to manage the behaviour of pupils
- Excellent knowledge of inclusion including SEMH, EAL, bilingual learners, minority ethnic achievement and equality (race, disability, and gender)
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding, especially the safety and welfare of vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils
- The ability and willingness to teach a range of subjects
- An understanding of a range of SEND needs, including SEMH and ASD
- Contribution to the educational and social development of individual pupils
- The ability to form effective relationships with young people, their families/carers and external agencies
- To ensure that young people’s views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate
- To maintain an appropriate environment, and provide appropriate resources, to meet the needs of all pupils
- To liaise with other teachers and teaching assistants in the team to ensure effective deployment of resources
