Freelance Estimator – Bedford

Up to £300/day

Part‑time freelance (3–4 days per week)

Bedford (office‑based with site visits as required)

The Company

A long‑established, privately owned contractor with over 50 years of success across the Home Counties. They deliver new build and refurbishment projects in commercial, education, healthcare, leisure and highways/civil engineering, with project values ranging from £250k to £5m. The team is highly skilled, friendly and stable, working from impressive countryside offices and maintaining strong, long‑standing client relationships.

The Role

You will prepare accurate and competitive tenders across a wide range of sectors, working closely with the commercial team. You’ll join an existing estimating team of two, working largely from the office with site visits as required. Projects include new build, refurbishment, and small civils/groundworks schemes. You’ll build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors, contributing to a culture focused on quality, value and teamwork.

Experience with Causeway is beneficial but not essential.

The Ideal Freelancer

* 5+ years’ experience as an Estimator in construction

* Experience in new build or refurbishment (ideally both)

* Groundworks or civils experience beneficial but not essential

* Strong IT literacy (Causeway experience an advantage)

* GCSE Maths grade C or above

* Strong analytical and communication skills

* Enjoys working in a fast‑paced, collaborative team environment

* Comfortable pricing projects from £250k to £5m
