* Under general supervision, the  
** Phlebotomist
* * will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory duties, including specimen collection, processing, and waived testing. This position requires excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.

** Schedule**  - A 40-hour work week.  Monday through Friday between the hours 7:30am-4:30pm.

* Primary Responsibilities:

*
* + Performs venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe, and butterfly techniques; capillary punctures using heel and finger stick techniques on patients

+ Collects, identifies, labels, and processes specimens according to protocol

+ Instructs patients on urine collection procedures and allocates urine specimens

+ Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products

+ Cleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work area and ensures preventive maintenance is performed on all equipment and monitors

+ Maintains knowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumes required for specimen collection, and complies with laboratory ordering and billing compliance

+ Enters laboratory data accurately into the computer system and responds timely to abnormal and panic values

+ Distributes laboratory reports

+ Monitors biohazard waste

+ Adheres to patient confidentiality policy

+ Adheres to the organization and governmental standards, rules, and regulations

+ Prioritizes workload to efficiently provide Providers with the information necessary

+ Performs clerical duties

+ Promotes good customer service and demonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette

* Required Qualifications:

* + High School Diploma/GED (or higher)

+ Current National Certification or Registration as Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist

+ 1+ years of experience with computer literacy

+ 1+ years of customer service experience

+ 1+ years of experience with laboratory tools and collecting materials

+ 1+ years of data entry experience

+ 1+ years of experience working in a lab

+ 1+ years of experience of medical terminology

* Preferred Qualifications:

* + Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine blood and urine tests

+ Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks

+ Knowledge of medical terminology

+ Knowledge of/familiarity with laboratory environment
