Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Maintains and repairs equipment at D-H Center facilities.
Responsibilities- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of facility equipment. Makes rounds of machine rooms to check for proper operation, being alert to noises, vibrations, and unusual smells within the mechanical spaces. Identifies hazards and works to eliminate them.
- Evaluates effectiveness of procedures and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance. Evaluates and recommends to the supervisor regarding the condition of equipment that may need to be repaired or replaced to prevent costly downtime. Assesses reported problems, determines the most effective corrective method, implements corrections, provides follow-up, and completes all required documentation.
- Troubleshoots and repairs the pneumatic tube system. Responds to fire alarms and resets the system. Responds to loss of electrical power, water, medical air, medical vacuum, and other life safety equipment.
- Investigates complaints and observations regarding poor or damaged equipment and remedies the problem while providing documentation to keep equipment histories current.
- Assists in moving and placing furniture, fixtures, and other equipment using proper equipment and safety standards.
- Reports any unsafe situations or practices to the supervisor.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment at all times.
- Recommends spare parts to ensure prompt completion of work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Maintains familiarity with repair manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Evaluates equipment operation and makes recommendations for improved and cost‑effective operations.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- High school graduate with 2 years mechanical experience, formal technical training, and computer experience required.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematic diagrams, and equipment manuals required.
Licensure/Certification s
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-H's Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
