Temporary Fisheries Environmental Technician II. Normandeau Associates, Inc., one of the nation’s largest, science-based environmental consulting firms, is seeking a Temporary Fisheries Environmental Technician II for the Fisheries Department in Bedford, NH.
DescriptionPerforms field, technical or laboratory tasks requiring basic skills as guided by a supervisor. Functions are often repetitive and routine. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently after receiving training.
Preferred qualificationsPreferential consideration will be given to candidates with field experience in environmental field work, a boating safety certification (USCG approved), OSHA training (i.e. 40-hour HAZWOPER, fall protection, etc.), first aid/CPR/AED certification, and experience with data analysis programs (R, GIS, SAS, etc.).
Responsibilities- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of field sampling equipment.
- Collection of environmental data and biological samples from freshwater ecosystems.
- Completion and review of project data sheets.
- Collection of water quality data.
- Electrofishing sampling (back or boat).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries, Wildlife, Environmental Science, or related field.
- A willingness to work in harsh and uncomfortable working conditions, including outdoor field sampling both in the river and on a boat.
- Must be capable of lifting 50-75 pounds.
- Must be able to hike potentially extensive distances while carrying field gear through rough terrain to access work locations.
- Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills.
