This job opportunity is available at ANY location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a JACOBS U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the “best” candidates.
This is an on‑site role at our Baton Rouge, LA site location.
As a wireless telecommunications project lead, you’ll design and provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings which include Commercial DAS, Public Safety DAS, LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Wi‑Fi and Tower Studies.
Project Lead Responsibilities- Preliminary assessments and concept creation.
- Leading designs with support from peers, SMEs, and BIM designers.
- Internal and external problem resolution.
- Drawing and specification production.
- Customer and vendor accessibility.
- Managing project schedules and ensuring on‑time completion.
- Designing wireless systems in iBwave and EDX.
- Coordination with BIM designers to create drawing packages.
- Coordination with AHJ’s, Radio System Owners, and carriers.
- DIV 27 specification creation or modification.
- Conducting site visits and reviewing technical documents.
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio, Public Safety DAS and Commercial DAS (OTA, Neutral Host, DRAN).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner or equivalent modeling programs.
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communication needs.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
- Knowledge of noise floor, SNIR, return loss, and VSWR.
- Experience optimizing networks during design and installation.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC section 510, FCC part 20 and part 90, FCC OET bulletin 65.
- Thorough knowledge of carrier KPIs and IBC.
- Knowledge of MOTOTRBO systems, Motorola R56 installation standards, and DMR Tier III.
- Familiarity with Navisworks.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Experience responding to RFPs and creating budgets.
- Experience creating and maintaining project schedules.
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL.
- NICET Design Certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical or Communications Engineering degree.
- EIT or PE.
