Facilities Mechanical Engineer (31957) – Jacobs

ResponsibilitiesAs a Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will work on projects that enable the heart of our client’s semiconductor-based manufacturing. You will collaborate with on‑site personnel to support projects of varying size and complexity, including assessment of systems, consulting system owners, and analyzing scope requests from stakeholders. You will be responsible for designing, developing, evaluating, and preparing recommendations with basis of design (BOD), scope of work (SOW) documents, as well as design, construction and specification documents.
You will oversee engineering and construction for facility mechanical systems such as HVAC, process cooling water, wastewater, general and acid/ammonia exhaust, fire protection, plumbing, process piping and equipment, including retrofits of existing building systems and new systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- At least 10 years of practical application of mechanical facilities design engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems
- At least 5 years of design project delivery processes experience
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi‑disciplinary teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and leadership experience
- Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical requirements per ASME and ASME B31.3, building codes, fire codes, and other related standards, such as ASHRAE
- Solid knowledge in practice and procedures for specifications and selection of all types of mechanical equipment and components
- Experience reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications
- Field experience interacting with subcontractors and construction personnel
- EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- 5 years of experience as a facility engineer
- Working knowledge of design‑related deliverables such as P&IDs, PFDs, details, and equipment plans
- Proficient working knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Revit or BIM

On‑site position at the client site in Wilton, Connecticut. Relocation assistance is available.
Physical Requirements- Requires field visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction. Must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, and lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
