our client is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated network engineer to join their team onsite in bedford, ma and provide end‑user support. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in advanced routing, enterprise network design, and secure access technologies. This role is critical to designing, implementing, and optimizing resilient, secure, and scalable network solutions that support mission‑critical systems.
participate in on‑call rotation. Security requirements: active secret clearance preferred. Clearance required within one year of conversion.
preferred qualifications: cisco and juniper certifications.
duties and responsibilities network design & implementation- design, deploy, and manage cisco ise infrastructure, including 802.1x authentication, authorization, and accounting (aaa)
- create and maintain routing and mpls overlay designs for lan / wan environments using ospf, is-is, and bgp
- administer cisco and juniper network infrastructure, including routers, switches, srx firewalls, and mist
- maintain cisco ios and junos os updates
- develop documentation, including conops, sops / mops, and network diagrams
- act as escalation point for complex routing and network issues
- establish operational procedures and best practices
- collaborate on automation, monitoring, alerting, and reliability metrics
- troubleshoot and resolve network issues to minimize downtime
- align network architecture with organizational and mission goals
- provide technical leadership in routing and cisco ise
- mentor junior engineers
- collaborate with stakeholders to translate mission needs into network solutions
- stay current with emerging technologies
- maintain detailed documentation of designs and configurations
- ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulations
- minimum 5+ years with bachelor’s, 3+ years with master’s, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years network engineering experience
- strong experience with ospf, is-is, bgp, mpls, cisco ise, and 802.1x
- experience with juniper srx and mist
- strong analytical and communication skills
- hybrid role with minimum 50% on‑site
the rate for this position is between $50.00 – $60.00 per hour, unless local minimum wage is higher. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
