Applied Mathematician to Support Communications, Navigation, and Timing Engineering (Summer 2026, PhD Preferred)

Apply mathematics to develop and evaluate state‑of‑the‑art navigation and communication technologies, including signal‑processing algorithms, next‑generation signals, and signal detection techniques.

• Develop and evaluate signal‑processing algorithms for navigation and communication systems (e.g., radio navigation, wireless communications, vision navigation).
• Design and innovate next‑generation signals for communications, satellite, and radio navigation.
• Implement techniques for detecting, locating, and identifying signals.

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of related experience; or advanced degree (MS, PhD) with relevant experience; or equivalent education and work experience.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, or other modeling and data‑analysis software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Desire to apply a strong math background to real‑world applications in communications, navigation, and timing.
• Minimum 50% hybrid onsite work.

• PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Experience applying theory to real‑world applications.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with people of diverse backgrounds.

No clearance required at application; candidate must obtain Secret clearance within one year of hire.

$101,000 – $126,500 – $152,000 per year.

Hybrid (Boston area).
