General Summary: Middlesex Community College seeks to fill part-time math faculty positions for in-person lecture beginning the fall 2024 semester. The College's part-time math faculty are knowledgeable and creative professionals who have a demonstrated commitment to working with the College's diverse students and community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction for a group of up to 28 students in a classroom.
- Ability to instruct in at least one of the following courses: statistics, math for liberal arts, and precalculus for business.
- Develop and use student-centered pedagogies.
- Develop and use assessment strategies that maximize the developmental learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
- Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
- Develop and apply technology in and out of the classroom.
- Use Blackboard Learning Management System to post syllabi, assignments, and grades.
- Fulfill terms of the faculty contract as set out in the Agreement between the Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council/Massachusetts Teachers Association.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in mathematics, mathematics education or closely related field.
- Classroom teaching of high school or college math courses.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, continuous professional improvement, developmental education, inclusive pedagogies and use of technology to support student learning.
- Willingness to work collegially with a diverse body of faculty and staff.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the role of the community college in higher education.
- Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, veterans, and individuals with different academic preparation levels and varying physical and learning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Blackboard LMS, and PC.
Location: Lowell or Bedford campus with occasional travel to Lowell or Bedford as needed.
Hours: Adjunct faculty can teach up to three courses per semester.
