Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Cashier/Checker is responsible for greeting, engaging, and assisting customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures.
• Adhere to company policies on cash shortages/overages and loss control.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers.
• Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
• Work well in a high-paced, stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed.
• Support customers with special needs, minors, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
