Summary
Reporting directly to Manager-Quality, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for assisting with quality system development and supporting product quality improvements. They will develop, maintain and deploy quality plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activities. This role is an in-office position reporting on-site at our Bedford, NS facility.
As a Quality Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:
Responsible for assisting with quality system development and supporting product quality improvementsDevelop, maintain and deploy quality plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activitiesAbility to work independently under supervision of othersReviews and approves engineering/test and contractor documentation and provides input to assure that appropriate quality requirements are addressedGathers, organizes, monitors, analyzes and reports on information on products and processesProvides ongoing quality system support to include performing internal audits, ensuring implementation of root cause corrective actionsParticipates on product quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards and Failure Review BoardsEvaluates and dispositions non-conforming materialProvides technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection personnel to include executing workmanship improvement plans, developing inspection methods and criteria, specifying appropriate sampling plans, interpreting and revising specifications, and processing non-conforming materialsAssists in resolving customer quality issuesInitiate and drive root cause and corrective action on process and product quality issuesParticipates in supplier selection and improvement processesResponsibilities include assisting with on-site audits, evaluating prototypes, and reviewing and approving of supplier corrective actionsPerforms inspection activities, to assess conformance of products to the design as defined by the engineering drawings and/or modelsInspects products, components, subassemblies, and/or systems to ensure conformance to requirementsIdentify nonconforming conditions of products that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level of assemblyPrepare inspection plans and checklists for inspectionGenerate discrepancy notices and initiate Material Review Board actionsPerform material movement transactions after completing inspection processSupport, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationPerform receiving inspection, in-process inspection, process verification/auditing, final inspection, etc.Attend appropriate customer, business or Program meetingsPrepares quality engineering reports and recommendationsProvides regular reporting of progress and statusWhat you require to be successful in the role:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience- considered an asset.3 – 5 years of related work experience within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environmentGeneral knowledge of relevant manufacturing standards (such as J-Std-001/IPC-A-610/IPC/WHMA-A-620) or common mechanical techniques (such as geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices)Ability to use various measurement devices (calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, etc) to verify mechanical part complianceAbility to read mechanical and electrical drawings and able to verify parts dimensions against drawing requirementsAbility to effectively interpret data and present as information and respond to questions from engineers and other technical staffNovice technical expertise and application domain knowledgeBasic knowledge of ISO StandardsFamiliar with ISO Standards as well as AS standardsDemonstrates initiative and applies it on-the-jobAbility to manage multiple technical assignmentsMaintain positive working relationships with other team members.Ability to understand military specifications and to read blue printsExcellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skillsAbility to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective actionAbility to work collaboratively with a…
