Position Summary
Salary: $37,862
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine, complex, and special inspections.
- Train and instruct new employees in inspection techniques and procedures.
- Take action indicated by results of inspections, tests, and investigations.
- Make recommendations concerning the proper application of laws, rules, and regulations.
- Complete detailed inspection reports.
- Maintain records pertaining to inspection schedules and results.
- Check for requirements prescribed by law, such as proper licensing, record keeping, security, safety and sanitary conditions, ACA Regulatory Laws and Regulations.
- Direct inmate contact.
- Work security post as needed – one 12‑hour shift per week.
- In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5 000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility. Critical Vacancy Pay Facilities include:
Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center). (SPB 3088). - Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.
- If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5 000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.

- Training:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Four (4) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in a closely related field. - Substitution:
Coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester hours for every one (1) year of required experience. - Special Requirements: (1) Licensure and/or certification pertinent to the work performed. (2) A valid driver’s license may be required.
