The LPN is responsible for providing nursing care consistent with the goals and philosophy of Raleigh General Hospital. The LPN provides professional nursing care and assists in delivering health care management for patients. This position requires strong clinical and critical‑thinking skills, the ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment, and may require coverage of other areas as needed.
Essential Functions- Assist the healthcare provider in providing direct patient care which includes, but is not limited to:
- Equipment preparation, assistance, and completion of medical treatments, exams, and procedures as directed and supervised by the provider.
- Obtaining and updating the patient’s medical history, medication lists, vital signs, height, weight, visual acuity, and determining the patient’s chief complaint.
- Scheduling of appointments and procedures as ordered by provider.
- Responsible for prescription refills as authorized by provider.
- Obtaining insurance pre‑authorizations as required for testing and scheduled procedures.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
- Administering prescribed oral, inhalation, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections as ordered.
- Completing safety instructional programs and enforcing safety practices for patients and the hospital.
- Reporting all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiating appropriate action.
- Completing assigned duties within appropriate working hours and managing time wisely.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and clear communication in both oral and written forms.
- Ability to work with patients, families, physicians, mid‑level providers, peers, and administrative staff in a tactful and professional manner.
- Deliver quality care with excellent customer service and participate in a team‑centered approach toward patient care.
- Maintain a positive impression of Raleigh General Hospital at all times.
- Knowledge of ICD‑10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and health care background.
- Proficiency in EMR, order entry and other clinic and hospital systems.
- Working knowledge of computers, telephones, copy and fax machines.
- Athena and Meditech experience preferred.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize and organize work areas.
CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) – to be obtained within 30 days.
Required LicensesCurrent licensure by WV State LPN Board or a multi‑state license.
