03114 RN Med/Surg Ortho-Post Surgical

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in Medical Surgical Orthopaedics.

• Education:
  
  Associate's Degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• License:
  Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi‑state (compact) license).
• Certifications:
  
  American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter; AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Required Skills:
  
  Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, resilience in stressful environments, computer proficiency.

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support.
• Evaluates learning needs of patients/families and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Provides patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in other nursing units as necessary.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
