Position: Nursing Director (RN) – Cardiovascular Services / Cath Lab

Overview

We seek an experienced Nursing Director of Cardiovascular Services to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the Cardiovascular Service Line at a 300-bed acute care hospital in West Virginia
. This leader oversees the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and all cardiovascular program functions, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum while advancing clinical excellence, efficiency, and innovation.

Reporting directly to the CNO, the Director plays a key role in program development, staff leadership, quality improvement, financial oversight, and partnerships with cardiologists, vascular specialists, and multidisciplinary teams.

About the Cardiovascular Services Division

The Cardiovascular Services Department includes a two-bay Cardiac Catheterization Lab performing approximately 1,200 cardiology and vascular procedures per year
, with 24/7 STEMI coverage
. The service line includes catheter-based interventions, comprehensive vascular care, peripheral vascular procedures, vein care, and wound care, delivered by a skilled multidisciplinary team.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Serve as the accountable leader for all inpatient, outpatient, procedural, and community cardiovascular services.

  • Develop, implement, and track a comprehensive strategic plan for the cardiovascular service line.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes, efficiency, cost of care, and patient satisfaction.

  • Drive program development, technological advancement, and service expansions.

  • Ensure regulatory readiness, accreditation compliance, and alignment with CMS and Joint Commission standards.

  • Collaborate with cardiologists, APPs, anesthesia, nursing leaders, and hospital administration to optimize coordination and performance.

  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, resource allocation, and workforce planning.

  • Provide leadership in staff development, competencies, and patient safety initiatives.

  • Support recruitment, engagement, and retention of cardiovascular staff.

  • Maintain operational excellence and financial performance of the service line.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned and demonstrate consistent attendance and leadership presence.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

  • Active West Virginia RN license OR compact state RN license (West Virginia participates in the NLC).

  • 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in cardiovascular services required.

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate effectively with physicians and anesthesia providers.

  • BLS and ACLS required (or obtained within defined timeframe).
