The Neuro department is a 39‑bed unit with a 6:1 patient ratio. We operate with a daily Float Charge RN and 2‑3 PCA's per shift, and a Discharge Nurse Monday‑Thursday for the entire hospital (day shift only).
Qualifications And Requirements- Current state RN license
- Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shift
- Determine staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow
- Provide direct patient care as needed
- Float between staff to assist with problem‑solving
- Take patient assignments to meet staffing needs
- Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and identify issues affecting desired outcomes
- Respond to complaints about patient care and related services, and manage through established channels
- Perform role‑specific duties such as entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers
- Ensure staff have necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality care
- Integrate evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols
- Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth
