Overview
The Uniontown Downtown Business District Authority advances economic revitalization, historic preservation, and small business growth in Uniontown’s Main Street district. In partnership with Fay-Penn Economic Development Council, the organization works to strengthen public-private collaboration, encourage reinvestment in historic commercial properties, and expand economic opportunity in the downtown core. This VISTA project builds internal capacity by developing planning systems, documentation tools, and partnership frameworks that strengthen the district’s ability to manage revitalization initiatives.
The VISTA focuses on creating internal resources that staff can use to coordinate Main Street programming, guide redevelopment strategies, and manage partnerships after the VISTA term. The VISTA member will develop internal project management templates, partnership mapping tools, real estate inventories, and business development planning resources. These tools will support long-term economic development by strengthening organizational systems. By improving internal planning and coordination infrastructure, this project addresses root causes of poverty by supporting sustainable small business growth, downtown reinvestment, and economic stability in Uniontown.
The service opportunity provides experience in Main Street revitalization systems, historic district planning, economic development research, and organizational capacity-building.
- Member Duties : Develop internal planning and project management tools for Main Street revitalization initiatives
- Create partnership mapping frameworks documenting public and private stakeholders
- Develop internal documentation outlining coordination protocols and governance structures
- Compile internal inventories of downtown real estate and historic commercial assets
- Create research summaries and reference guides related to historic preservation and redevelopment planning
- Develop internal business development planning tools supporting entrepreneurship and innovation strategies
- Create internal reporting templates for board documentation and annual planning materials
- Develop systems for organizing staff-provided financial and program documentation
