Responsibilities

This role emphasizes strong software engineering fundamentals, hands‑on development, and secure system design. The MTS V, Software Engineer will build robust, production‑grade software applications and platform services that enable secure Git Ops‑driven deployments, Kubernetes‑based infrastructure automation, and configuration transformation systems.

This is a senior individual contributor role with deep ownership of software architecture, code quality, system reliability, security posture, and technical direction.

Core Responsibilities
  • Architect and design scalable, modular, maintainable, and secure software systems using modern design principles and patterns.
  • Translate complex functional, security, and system requirements into well‑defined technical designs.
  • Drive API design, service contracts, and integration strategies across distributed components with secure communication patterns.
  • Embed security controls such as authentication, authorization, encryption, and policy enforcement into system designs.
  • Ensure software solutions are resilient, testable, observable, and production‑ready.
Hands‑on Software Development
  • Write high‑quality, performant, and secure production code (Go preferred).
  • Implement microservices, controllers, automation agents, and platform tooling with secure coding practices.
  • Develop reusable libraries and frameworks that incorporate built‑in security guardrails.
  • Conduct code reviews focusing on code quality, performance, and vulnerability prevention.
  • Refactor and optimize existing systems for performance, scalability, maintainability, and security hardening.
  • Integrate secure software supply chain practices (artifact signing, provenance, dependency scanning).
Testing & Quality Engineering
  • Implement comprehensive unit, integration, system, and security tests.
  • Build automated validation pipelines including SAST, DAST, dependency, and container image scanning.
  • Support system and penetration testing efforts; analyze results and drive remediation.
  • Promote engineering discipline around versioning, backward compatibility, release stability, and vulnerability management.
  • Ensure security validation is embedded into CI/CD quality gates.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
  • Create infrastructure automation frameworks for provisioning, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • Develop tooling that transforms hardware/software configuration inputs into validated, compliant runtime configurations.
  • Automate air‑gapped image distribution strategies with integrity verification and secure OCI registry integration.
  • Implement secure configuration, key, and secret management mechanisms.
  • Embed infrastructure security controls such as identity federation, least‑privilege access, and network segmentation.
Security Engineering Responsibilities
  • Integrate secure SDLC practices across design, development, testing, and release.
  • Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for platform and application architectures.
  • Implement Zero Trust principles across service communication and platform access.
  • Define and enforce identity, authentication, and authorization frameworks.
  • Drive container, Kubernetes, and runtime workload security standards.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory security requirements.
