Job Title: Materials Developer
Duration: 7+ Months
Location: Hybrid – Beaverton, OR (Friday REMOTE)
- This is a full-time employee (FTE) leave coverage position focused on seasonal material development for Spring/Summer ‘27 and Fall/Holiday ‘27 seasons, stepping in to kick off development, manage through completion, connect with design partners and suppliers, apply technical knowledge on garment performance, and handle product testing.
- The role involves working on a direct team of ~10, closely with ~5 others, and cross-functionally with 7-10 groups, reporting into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM).
- Develop textiles and trims (fabrics for outerwear/bodywear, zippers, elastics, patches, prints) for seasonal collections.
- Partner with Design, Product Management, Innovation, Merchandising, Technical Development, Sustainability, Sourcing, and Manufacturing.
- Kick off material development, manage end-to-end process, connect with partners/suppliers, assess garment performance, and oversee product testing.
- Build strategic plans/roadmaps for key projects and execute to completion.
- Provide industry trend insights and innovate new material solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree minimum (e.g., Textile Engineering, Apparel Science/Design, or related field).
- 5+ years’ experience in materials development role, specifically textile development background (creating fabrics for outerwear, bodywear, etc.).
- Trim experience (zippers, elastics, patches, etc.).
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Proficiency with tools: PCX, Miro, Smartsheets, PPS (Product Data Management/Smartsheet experience noted).
- Understanding of design/development process from inception to adoption.
- PMP certification or equivalent proving ability to manage complex work.
- Experience developing performance materials (e.g., swim-related) or with similar brands.
- Expertise in Print development.
