Maryville, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, has an opening for an energetic and congenial activities assistant. Full or part‑time positions can be accommodated. Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekend availability.

Essential Functions:
  • Assists in carrying out activity programs as identified in the monthly calendar and as instructed by the activities director, including:
  • Carrying out group activities with the support and direction of the activities director
  • Providing one‑to‑one programming for residents who cannot participate in a group setting
  • Coordinating with the activities director and other staff as necessary to bring residents to and from activities and events
  • Making sure copies of the calendar are posted throughout the facility and available to each resident, his or her families, and friends
  • Assisting in decorating for the holidays with the help of residents and the volunteers and helping carry out special events
  • Assisting with maintaining activity equipment and supplies, and organizing the activities storage areas in an orderly and clean manner
  • Assisting in carrying out activity programs in the absence of the Activities Director
  • Assisting with quarterly special events that include residents, families, friends and the community at large
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in the long‑term care setting
  • Experience working with individuals living with physical or cognitive disabilities, including individuals with Dementia
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to establish strong rapport with Maryville residents and their families and friends
  • Must be an individual with an abundance of patience
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents, staff and volunteers
  • A proven track record of reliable attendance and attention to detail
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • The ability to read and write in English including the ability to read and interpret documents such as care plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The ability to lift, push, or pull up to 45 pounds on an infrequent basis, as well as walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to stand and walk for several hours at a time, and the ability to pass the background check required of all campus employees.
