. This role is part of the Advanced Facilities Group (AFG), combining Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting‑edge work.
The Mechanical Estimator will complete increasingly complex mechanical and field construction activities, including collecting and assembling data, developing estimates, generating systems and bid analysis, and supporting JE Dunn’s strategy, vision and values.
Key Role Responsibilities – Core- Learn and actively participate in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans and culture.
- Complete entry level and routine mechanical and field construction activities.
- Develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating system.
- Review mechanical options during the preconstruction process and complete systems analysis for select projects.
- Develop mechanical scopes of work for the bid process.
- Assist in bid analysis and subcontractor selection.
- Assist with sequencing requirements of various systems and provide solutions to meet schedule requirements.
- Identify potential quality problems and assist in developing constructability review reports.
- Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
- Assist with shop drawing/submittal process.
- Assist with commissioning process including pre‑functional checklists and functional testing.
- Lead, support and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.
- Completely develop budgetary M/E estimates based on design information.
- Recommend best system for the project and provide value‑engineering suggestions.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process.
- Provide scheduling input during projects.
- Develop quality control programs and review design documents.
- Perform job inspections throughout the project.
- Develop pre‑functional checklists and functional testing procedures.
- Review and approve shop drawings prior to submission.
- Generate and issue Commissioning Plan for approval.
- Verify deficiencies are corrected and submit commissioning documentation.
- Provide mentoring to less experienced co‑workers.
- Create M/E tools and innovative solutions to improve processes.
- Lead, support and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.
- Accurate, complete, and timely work.
- Intermediate communication skills (verbal and written).
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.
- Basic proficiency in JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.
- Knowledge of construction management means and methods.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering or related field (required).
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- 5+ years construction and/or engineering experience (preferred).
Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
