Manufacturing Engineer, Product Designer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Footwear Product Developer to support a high-visibility performance basketball initiative within a global sportswear organization.
This role will focus on revamping and elevating existing footwear models tied to major athlete moments (All-Star, WNBA, etc.), driving product excellence from concept through commercialization in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Roles and Responsibilities- Convert 2D design renderings into high-quality 3D samples that meet performance, cost, sustainability, and commercialization goals.
- Lead complex footwear product development projects from brief through manufacturing readiness.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Testing, Materials, Design, Merchandising, and overseas manufacturing partners.
- Take athlete feedback and rapidly apply improvements to performance footwear.
- Revamp and refresh existing footwear models with innovative updates.
- Drive timelines, manage competing priorities, and ensure critical dates are met.
- Identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining design intent and performance standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturers to advocate for design feasibility and execution.
- 3+ years of Technical Product Development experience in Footwear.
- Strong understanding of footwear pattern engineering, tooling, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience converting creative ideas into commercialized products under tight deadlines.
- Ability to create and manage product timelines independently.
- Proven experience navigating product creation within cross-functional matrix environments.
- Ability to read technical drawings, sketches, and/or 3D digital files.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Must include a portfolio showcasing footwear development work.
- Performance basketball footwear experience.
- Experience iterating on past models and improving product through testing and feedback.
- Direct liaison experience with overseas manufacturers.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze product failures and implement improvements.
