Apparel Pattern Engineer
Our client is seeking an experienced Apparel Pattern Engineer to support their women’s athletic wear team. This role is focused on developing and refining garment patterns from designer sketches, ensuring proper construction, fit, and performance. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in pattern making, strong knowledge of knits, and the ability to collaborate with athletes and cross-functional partners.
This role is onsite in Beaverton, Oregon.
- Build and adjust technical clothing patterns from initial designer concepts or modify existing patterns to achieve precise fit and construction.
- Translate sketches into technical drawings and measurements that guide garment assembly.
- Participate in fit sessions, evaluate prototypes, and recommend adjustments to ensure performance, comfort, and style.
- Document garment specifications and maintain accurate records using digital tools and systems.
- Collaborate with design, development, and production teams to ensure garments meet brand standards and functional requirements.
Apparel Pattern Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a technical designer with expertise in pattern making for athletic or performance apparel.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, with proficiency in knits preferred; experience in wovens, outerwear, dresses, or skirts is a plus.
- Skilled in using PDM, PCX, PLM, or similar web-based platforms for tracking and documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in athlete-facing and cross-functional settings.
- Portfolio demonstrating pattern expertise, garment construction knowledge, and examples of previous work.
Compensation:
Up to $48/hr. (DOE)
