$53.33/hr - $57.33/hr
ResponsibilitiesLead Technical Designer – a pattern maker and sewing expert. This individual is proactive, collaborative, safety‑minded, detail oriented, and comfortable troubleshooting. Responsibilities include participating in apparel development with Product Creation teams, staying up to date on market trends, new technologies and consumer needs, and ensuring projects meet corporate guidelines and goals. The designer will lead patterning, sample making and fit execution for studio‑supported projects, identify and address pattern/construction/manufacturing opportunities, facilitate project review meetings with OSS leadership, and develop and lead studio‑based trainings.
The role reports to the Senior Manager and collaborates with Design, Product Management, PCC, materials and manufacturing to execute product development and fit goals. Travel may be required for fast‑paced projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Textile Science or related field
- Additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 10+ years pattern making or technical design experience in the apparel industry, covering the entire development process from inception through production including pattern making, grading, construction materials, costing, manufacturing and quality
- Expertise in pattern making, sewing and garment construction
- Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills
- Experience interpreting design intent, offering alternative solutions, and acting as a technical resource
- Expert in writing product specs and construction standards instructions
- Proficient working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired
- Proficiency with MS Office programs
