CU Benefits Alliance, an employee benefits consultancy and subsidiary of Maps Credit Union, seeks a full-time Employee Benefits Account Coordinator to support the delivery and execution of employee benefit programs.
This role is designed as an early-career to mid-career development role for professionals building expertise in employee benefits and consulting. The Account Coordinator supports Consultants by playing a critical role in enabling high-quality client outcomes through operational excellence, benefit administration, renewals, and carrier coordination. The role partners closely with Consultants and contributes to client work through preparation, analysis, and follow-through, with increasing exposure to client strategy as experience grows.
This is a hybrid position within a small, collaborative team of employee benefits professionals.
Key responsibilities include:Operational & Analytical Support
- Support renewal and plan year activities through data collection, organization, and preparation.
- Collect and manage RFP materials, census data, plan designs, and carrier documentation.
- Track commissions and ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation.
- Prepare benefit summaries, plan comparisons, and internal materials.
- Maintain accurate records across internal systems and carrier platforms.
- Coordinate with health insurance carriers and vendors to support quoting, renewals, and plan setup.
- Assist with claims research, documentation, and carrier follow-up.
- Identify trends or recurring issues for escalation and discussion with the team.
- Stay informed on healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
- Support documentation and internal processes related to regulatory standards.
- Partner closely with Consultants on client preparation and execution, including open enrollment activities and delivering employee benefits meetings.
- Support onboarding of new accounts and internal process improvements.
- Contribute to consistent, scalable service practices.
This role supports a clear progression toward a Consultant position, aligned with CU Benefit's size and operating model.
Account Coordinator- Builds foundational knowledge of employee benefits, carriers, and internal processes.
- Develops strong organizational, operational, and communication skills.
- Supports client work through preparation, documentation, and follow-through.
- Assists with reporting preparation and data organization to support renewals and plan performance reviews.
- Provides consulting operations support, including scheduling, meeting logistics, document coordination, and internal follow-through.
- Expands responsibility for renewals, plan year activities, and carrier and vendor coordination.
- Partners closely with Consultants to support the execution of the annual consulting calendar.
- Prepares client materials, including benefit summaries, plan comparisons, and renewal documentation.
- Builds confidence in interpreting benefits reporting and supporting financial review preparation.
- Demonstrates increasing ownership of timelines, deliverables, and service consistency across assigned clients.
- Expands responsibility in client preparation and strategic support.
- Participates more actively in client meetings alongside Consultants.
- Deepens expertise across plan design, renewals, vendor management, and data analysis.
- Contributes to plan performance reporting and renewal modeling support.
- Develops stronger client-facing judgment and strategic thinking in preparation for a Consultant role.
- Leads client relationships and strategy.
- Serves as the primary advisor and decision partner.
- Drives long-term benefits outcomes, renewal strategy, and executive-level communication.
- Supports client growth, retention, and strategic partnership.

- Experience with health insurance carriers and benefit administration
- Knowledge of group medical, dental, vision, life, and related products preferred
- Experience with fully insured and/or self-funded plans a plus
- Experience in financial services or credit union environments a plus
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office tools to analyze data, create executive-ready materials, and manage complex workflows.
- Willingness to obtain Life & Health insurance licensing as part of professional development
Starting exempt pay range: $75,000 - $79,000 per year, depending on relevant experience.
Work schedule:
Monday Friday, business hours.
