The Position
Beaverton Municipal Court is hiring five temporary, part-time Court Support Specialists to provide customer service to court visitors and perform a variety of administrative support activities to keep court operations and processes running smoothly. This may include everything from preparing documents to processing payments, and working directly with defendants, lawyers, and judges.

There are five temporary, part-time (24 hours/week), non-exempt vacancies. This assignment is funded through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension (dependent on funding) through March 2027.

Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and respond to incoming correspondence.
- Receive and process payments.
- Pick up and drop off mail and other materials from other city facilities.
- Operate courtroom recording equipment and notate proceedings.
- Process documents according to established policies and procedures. Review records and documents for errors.
- Assist defendants in resolving cases by qualifying them for fine reductions and diversion and safety programs.
- Administratively dismiss violation cases that meet the requirements of a certificate of innocence or certificate of non-liability.
- Process cases for failure to appear, pay, or comply. Generate and mail documents.
- Check defendants into court prior to court appearances.
- Process cases within a work queue.
- Create a workplace that promotes the organizational values of inclusion, respect, and belonging.

Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, and
- Two years of experience providing in-person customer service in a high-volume environment, including
- One year of experience in a criminal justice environment; and
- Cash handling experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the city's driving standards.
- Ability to pass reference checks and education verification, and satisfy the requirements of a background check, including Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprints.
- Selected candidates must acquire CJIS and Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS) certification within 30 days of beginning employment.
- Ability to satisfy the requirements of a pre-employment drug screen.
Compensation
Wage: $25.97 hourly
This position does not receive benefits.
