Responsibilities- Provide quality medical nutrition therapy to a variety of patients, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, education, and monitoring.
- Communicate effectively with other health care professionals.
- Serve as preceptor/mentor for dietetic interns and department staff.
- Accurately manage position paperwork, including workload documentation and EMR documentation.
- Follow correct hand hygiene procedures before and after entering patient rooms.
- Utilize appropriate scripting and respond to patients, internal and external customers, using the HEAL principle and interacting effectively with medical and ancillary staff.
- Effectively and safely use position equipment, performing applicable cleaning/sanitation procedures (e.g., cleaning high‑touch surfaces, troubleshooting software and printer malfunctions).
- Use the electronic patient medical record (EPIC) and patient menu software (VST) correctly.
- Accurately assess and evaluate patient populations using evidence‑based documentation through the nutrition care process (e.g., completing malnutrition assessments, nutrition‑focused physical exams, developing effective plans of care, and writing appropriate orders as allowed).
- Utilize the nutrition care process to counsel patient populations regarding nutrition‑related diseases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®).
- Completion of an ACEND®‑accredited supervised practice program.
- Current dietitian license in the State of Ohio.
- Registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy in business and nutrition software applications (preferred).
One to two years’ clinical nutrition experience in acute or long‑term care, with emphasis on nutrition support, diabetes, or cardiac medical nutrition therapy.
