Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Long-Term Care position at a nursing home attached to a hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience with an elderly patient population.
Responsibilities- Work setting is a 70-bed nursing home (primarily private rooms) attached to a hospital, classified as a post-acute/LTC/SNF care setting
- Patient population includes elderly residents with dementia, frailty, and rehabilitation needs
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:20; LPN-to-patient ratio is 1:20; CNA-to-patient ratio is 1:8
- Procedures include IV therapy, catheterization, ostomy care, medication administration, assessments, and charge nurse duties
- EMR system is ECS (facility is transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
- 12-hour shifts on a block schedule; 4 nurses and 7 aides on day/PM shifts, 2 nurses and 3–4 aides on NOC
- Every other weekend required
- Must be available for at least half of the holidays during the assignment
- Floating is required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge nurse duties, medication administration, and clinical skills such as IVs, catheterization, and ostomy care
- Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, housekeeping, and RT (on-site 24/7)
- On-site pharmacy and medication dispensing system available; physician available after hours
- Orientation length varies based on individual skills
- Scrubs must be any solid color, clean and professional
- Candidates who were previously permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and facility approval is required
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior experience working with elderly patients required
- IV therapy experience required
- 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience
