Summary / Objective

The Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients of any age group admitted to the area. The RN provides direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and non‑licensed nursing personnel and supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the hospital.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Knows and complies with the Nurse Practice Act for the State of Texas. Utilizes a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal‑directed nursing care by performing comprehensive assessments, making diagnoses, developing a plan of care, implementing care, and evaluating patient responses.
  • Delegates tasks to unlicensed personnel ensuring patient safety in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Applies knowledge of medications and treatments to promote a safe environment for patients.
  • Maintains required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards.
  • Clarifies orders or treatment regimens that are inaccurate or contraindicated by consulting with appropriate licensed practitioners and notifying ordering practitioners of decisions not to administer.
  • Institutes nursing interventions to stabilize or prevent complications.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Required Education & Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Required License/Certifications
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas
  • BLS certification
  • Unit‑specific competencies obtained within six months of hire
