• Know and conform to the Nurse Practice Act for the State of Texas. Utilize a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments, making nursing diagnoses, developing a plan of care based on the assessment and nursing diagnosis, implementing nursing care, and evaluating the patient’s responses to nursing interventions.
• Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act, considering patient safety and the education, experience, and abilities of the person assigned.
• Implement measures to promote a safe environment and administer medications and treatments correctly, with understanding of their rationale and effects.
• Maintain required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards.
• Clarify any order or treatment regimen that may be inaccurate, non-efficacious, or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner and notifying the ordering practitioner when deciding not to administer the medication or treatment.
• Institute nursing interventions to stabilize a patient  condition and/or prevent complications.

• Education and Experience:
  
  Graduate of an accredited nursing program. No experience required.
• Licenses and
  
  Certifications:
  
  Current RN license in the State of Texas; BLS certification; unit-specific competencies obtained within six months of hire.
