Summary/ObjectiveThe Radiation Therapist is responsible for the provision of radiation services to patients according to physicians' orders, providing for patient safety and high quality treatment.

- Proficient in the utilization of radiological equipment in the department i.e. CT scanner, OBI, CBCT, portal imager, Linear accelerator, HDR; assisting in the maintenance of the equipment in the department.
- Notes set up instructions i.e. field size, distance, focal points, treatment devices, patient position, immobilization devices and photographs so to be reproduced in the treatment suite.
- Assists in the positioning of patients in appropriate treatment position and immobilizes that patients position with the necessary technique or device; as well as, verifies accuracy of tumor localization with radiation oncologist via the x-ray according to physician’s orders and treatment plan.
- Takes and notes necessary measurements, contours and photographs needed for dosimetry calculation and treatment reproduction.
- Maintains own proficiency through the utilization of in-service programs, workshops, seminars, and other self-directed learning activities; as well as, applies principles of radiation safety in the performance of any exam involving x-ray.
Possesses specialized knowledge of sterile technique and its application in the invasive procedures performed in the department.
RequiredEducation and Experience
Associates Degree or equivalent and a Graduate of an accredited or registered school of Radiation Therapy
1-3 years of related experience.
Required License/CertificationsA.R.R.T certification in the State of Texas
Current registration with Texas Medical Board
