4 hours per instructional day

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide students with high-quality instruction in the core academic subject areas for half of the instructional day. The Part-Time Certified Teacher will support student learning and development through engaging, standards-based lessons that foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This flexible role may include teaching in the morning or afternoon, or serving in rotating instructional blocks, based on campus needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements for assigned subject/grade level
  • Demonstrated competency in the assigned academic subject
  • Current AED certification (if applicable for Physical Education positions)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of instructional content and curriculum
  • Ability to design engaging lessons and manage classroom behavior
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
  • At least one year of student teaching or approved teaching internship
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Strategies
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned to the district curriculum
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs
  • Utilize effective teaching strategies and appropriate technology
  • Collaborate with campus staff to support student achievement
  • Modify lessons for special populations in coordination with support staff
Student Support:
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly
  • Maintain high expectations for all students
  • Promote a positive and respectful classroom culture
  • Serve as a role model aligned to district values
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Enforce district behavior and discipline procedures consistently
  • Maintain accurate records and student documentation
Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and colleagues
  • Participate in campus meetings and professional learning as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
Compliance and Professionalism:
  • Follow all applicable district policies, administrative regulations, and state/federal guidelines
  • Maintain required documentation and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, ethics, and initiative
EQUIPMENT USED:
  • Standard classroom technology and instructional tools; AED (as applicable)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, stooping/bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting; frequent walking
  • Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Environmental Demands
  • Exposure to childhood communicable diseases; good general health and stamina needed
  • May work prolonged or irregular hours
  • Work inside, may work outside
  • Regular exposure to noise
  • Working conditions may vary under the Americans with Disabilities Act
