PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject areas designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject/level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Fluency in foreign language for LOTE teachers
- Physical Education Teachers:
Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must have experience in, or have previously advised, FFA programs.
- Will be required to advise or co-advise a livestock species SAE.
- Must be available to work outside of the regular school day, including evenings and weekends.
- Will be expected to travel with students during the summer for leadership camps, livestock shows, and conventions.
- Must be willing to coach both LDE and CDE teams.
- Will be responsible for promoting FFA activities on the home campus.
- Will serve as part of a six-teacher Agriculture team across BISD.
- May be required to accompany students and livestock to major stock shows.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions as part of the job responsibilities.
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
