Overview

As a Supervisory Sales Associate you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. You will highlight our brand and image while building our reputation as a customer‑centric organization. Your responsibilities include assisting customers, recognizing their needs for our products and services, and serving as a team leader who creates a positive and productive work environment.

Through continuous learning, you will stay current on products and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. A positive, outgoing nature that enjoys serving others and making a positive impact is required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Proactively engage and connect with customers (customer service).
  • Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
  • Direct customers to merchandise, inform them of upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card benefits.
  • Provide premier customer service by building inclusive and respectful relationships and taking accountability for your actions and outcomes.
  • Maintain store appearance and layout.
  • Cross‑sell products and provide suggestions based on customer trends and promotions.
  • Upsell products and share product features using the latest company tools and technology.
  • Process sales through a Point‑of‑Sale system, handling cash, discounts, gift cards, and credit or debit cards with accurate money handling and counting.
  • Complete paperwork, reports, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Act as the keeper of merchandise, ensuring accurate inventory and participation in periodic inventories.
  • Protect cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
  • Provide direction on assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage merchandise and inventory.
  • Adhere to the assigned schedule and complete work assignments accurately.
Supervisory Requirements
  • Provide effective leadership, direct training, and motivate associates, setting a positive example.
  • Coach and give timely, professional feedback to sales associates.
  • Deliver work assignments, training, and training input to the Department Manager.
  • May open and close locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Moderate product knowledge with experience in training documentation.
  • 1–2 years of retail or relevant experience required; 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including phone etiquette.
  • Basic math skills, including cash handling and percentage calculations.
  • Multi‑tasking, flexibility, and initiative within a team environment.
  • Ability to defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two hours.
  • May involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and lifting 25–50 lbs.
  • Indoor work with possible outdoor assignments depending on location.
Other Skills

Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service. Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

General Experience

1 year of responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales work demonstrating satisfactory performance.

Specialized Experience

1 year of progressively responsible retail sales experience performing duties central to this position.

Substitution of Education for Experience

College or university study above high school may be substituted on the basis of one‑half academic year for six months of experience. Specialized experience may substitute for required general experience. Candidates must demonstrate or have potential to develop the qualities of successful supervision in their work experience or training.
