The Automotive Painter removes paint and corrosion from various surfaces and applies primer and paint on government equipment in accordance with military specifications. Understands and applies various corrosion control methods and technologies. Removes paint and corrosion using abrasive methods and equipment in an enclosed blast booth. Prepares items for painting using tape and masking materials. Coats surfaces of government equipment with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray devices, or other application methods.

Work is typically performed in an enclosed paint or blast booth with required respiratory protection.

• Remove paint and corrosion from surfaces using abrasive paper, liquid paint remover, scraper, and abrasive media blasting techniques in an enclosed blast booth.
• Prepare items for painting using tape and masking materials.
• Apply coatings (primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other materials) using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and related devices.
• Work in an enclosed paint or blast booth with respiratory protection and safety practices; ensure proper fit and use of respirators as required.

• Must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements and pass medical examinations related to daily tasks.
• Daily tasks require standing, climbing, bending and stooping; wear a paint suit with hood while performing tasks with a full-faced respirator; must be able to lift to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Must be able to obtain a pass for a government-required background check to be issued a Combined Access Card for military base access.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Prefer 2 years of Military Equipment Corrosion Control experience or equivalent civilian experience in auto body/equipment painting.
