About the Position
The Medical Support Assistant position is located at Naval Hospital Beaufort, South Carolina, within the Directorate of Clinical Support, Physical Therapy Department.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation for DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.
Duties- Receives incoming calls and visitors.
- Addresses routine questions regarding clinic operations and specialty clinic schedules.
- Verifies patient eligibility for medical services using appropriate healthcare systems.
- Screens all individuals seeking care to confirm benefits and access requirements.
- Directs patients to the appropriate clinic, provider, or medical team member to maintain efficient patient flow.
- Facilitates appointments at outside medical facilities when required.
- Maintains, retrieves, and organizes inpatient and outpatient medical records.
- Reviews records for completeness, accuracy, and proper sequencing in accordance with established protocols.
- Provides patients with instructions on administrative procedures required before testing.
- Ensures all diagnostic-related documentation is accurate and properly routed.
- This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
