Field Placement Coordinator
The Department of Education at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) is seeking an energetic and engaged Field Placement Coordinator. The Coordinator reports directly to the Department Chair and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating USCB’s field experiences, including the placement of student observers enrolled in undergraduate coursework and the supervision of practicum and internship students; working closely with university supervisors, cooperating teachers, and school district personnel;
establishing and building partnerships with area school districts and community agencies; preparing and filing the Institution of Higher Education report annually; providing ADEPT orientation; assisting with the expansion and development of partnership schools; completing and filing teacher certification documents required by the South Carolina Department of Education; and teaching undergraduate courses as assigned by the Department Chair.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate field experiences including placement of student observers and supervision of practicum and internship students.
- Work closely with university supervisors, cooperating teachers, and school district personnel including central office staff and school principals.
- Establish and build partnerships with area school districts and community agencies.
- Prepare and file the Institution of Higher Education report for the South Carolina Department of Education annually.
- Provide ADEPT orientation to all students, faculty, and cooperating teachers.
- Assist with the expansion and development of partnership schools.
- Complete and file teacher certification documents required by the South Carolina Department of Education.
- Teach undergraduate courses as assigned by the Department Chair.
- Earned master’s degree in education or a closely related field.
- Minimum five years teaching experience in grades pre‑K‑6.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven success working in a team‑oriented environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at the departmental, university, and public‑school level.
- Prior experience mentoring teacher candidates and/or novice teachers.
- Familiarity with national and state curriculum standards.
- Preferred: deep familiarity with, and extensive experience working in, the Beaufort County School District; active educational leadership, administrative, and higher‑education experience strongly desired.
