Overview
This position involves directing summer camp activities at an assigned facility, such as supervising children; planning and leading activities; organizing and leading field trips; planning, handling and serving meals; maintaining camp facilities; and performing light cleaning duties. The head camp counselor will lead a team of camp counselors at their assigned facility. The main objective is to create a safe, enjoyable, and enriching environment for the children.
LocationsCamps locations may change, but are expected to take place at the following locations:
- Scott Center
- Bluffton Center
- Charles Lind Brown Center
- Burton Wells Recreation Center
- Whale Branch/Booker T Washington Center
- Must have a high school diploma;
Associate’s degree preferred. - Must have valid driver's license.
- Must have at least two years of experience as a camp counselor, or five years of equivalent experience working with children. Must have a current First Aid and CPR certification prior to the first day of camp.
- Must be at least 18 years of age prior to the start of camp.
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation. Beaufort County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
