A Brief Overview

Ahuja 6 th floor is a 36-bed medical-surgical, telemetry, and neuro floor. Our patients range from young adult to geriatric, and have a variety of different medical diagnoses. On the 6 th floor we are committed to providing safe patient care, and we utilize an interdisciplinary team to ensure all of our patients’ needs are being addressed in an efficient manner.

The staff consists of RN’s, LPN’s, PCNA’s, nurse managers, and clerical staff; in addition to these positions, we also use The Care Teams of Tomorrow model, which created various positions focusing on supporting bedside staff members. We are very welcoming of new employees, and our onboarding consists of using evidence-based practice to assist staff become oriented to the unit by providing useful feedback, setting learning objectives, teaching hospital protocols, and encouraging critical thinking.

Diagnoses

Heart failure, chronic kidney disease, arrhythmias, stroke, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, sepsis diabetes, palliative care/hospice

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Education

• Other Accredited Program:
  Diploma in Nursing or
• (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
• (MN) Master in Nursing (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire) and
• Basic Life Support (B) (Required Upon Hire)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
