Maintenance Worker, Building Maintenance

Under the general supervision of the Construction Supervisor and the Maintenance Crew leader, this position is responsible for assisting in installing water & sewer taps, installing water & sewer lines, repairing water leaks, assisting in unclogging stopped up sewer lines as well as the maintenance and repair of necessary equipment and facilities.

• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, small to heavy equipment, and city vehicles.
• Repairs water leaks involving main water lines, service lines, fire hydrants, water meters and valves.
• Install, repair and sometimes read water meters.
• Participate in removal and repair/replacement of sewer lift stations and other pumps and motors involved in water & wastewater operations.
• Yard maintenance and facility repairs.
• Performs valve exercising, dead-end main flushing and fire hydrant maintenance.
• Some "on-call", evening or weekend work will be required during urgent or emergency situations.
• Will work in inclement conditions and sometimes harsh environments.
• Assist with pouring and finishing concrete.
• During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
• Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Experience with pouring and finishing concrete will be a plus.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, Class “B” preferred.
• Class C Water and Wastewater license issued by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or ability to obtain within a reasonable time.
