Standard Pipe Outside Sales Representative
This Standard Pipe Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer accounts that purchase standard pipe in various industries including but not limited to PVF, Plumbing, Fire Sprinkler, Industrial, Mechanical, HVAC, Tubular, Water Well Casing, Wholesale Distribution, Fence, OEM, Conduit, Steel Service Centers, End Users, Fabricators. The purpose of the role is to ensure customer needs are identified and met in a timely manner, achieve customer satisfaction, and meet sales objectives and goals.
Qualifications- Minimum of five (5) years outside sales experience in the carbon steel standard pipe industry.
- Sales experience within a manufacturing environment or steel pipe distribution is preferred.
- Product and market knowledge and customer network in the above mentioned industries.
- Knowledge of domestic carbon steel pipe producers and products.
- Capable of analyzing and maintaining a running size and type mix of inventory, projecting future production orders based on sales and market trends.
- Knowledge of production specification, manufacturing flow, and quality control plans.
- High level of outgoing interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Capability to work in a fast‑paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are important.
- Ability to plan, organize, and multitask to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel extensively in the assigned territory or accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to find new accounts, develop business and close sales.
- Collect, monitor, analyze and report market intelligence, trends about the industry, customers, and competitors.
- Follow production and inventory levels, and update customers with production completion and shipment time frames.
- Develop and maintain relationships with assigned customers, ensuring their satisfaction with products and services.
- Prospect new customers, continuously optimize the customer portfolio, create new revenue opportunities, and improve processes and services to customers.
- Oversee and follow the full cycle of orders from inquiry to payment.
- Ensure purchase order commercial and technical terms and conditions are reviewed and met.
- Manage and track quotations, sales orders, shipments, and payments.
- Manage inventory levels effectively by maintaining a good stock mix and projecting future orders for inventory.
- Manage customer complaints, product or service related claims and customer disputes.
- Frequently meet with existing and potential customers on an agreed upon frequency.
- Prepare monthly activity reports, summarizing all sales and operational activities of the month.
- Other duties as assigned as needed.
Reports to the Director of Sales.
