Handex is expanding and seeking Wastewater Field Technicians to join our Contamination Assessment and Remediation Services Team. This is a unique opportunity to work on a critical wastewater treatment remediation system in Bayonne, NJ.
In this role, you will part of a team that is delivering outstanding service to our client. This position offers the chance to work hands-on while playing a key role in Handex's continued growth and environmental impact.

Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the On-Site Project Manager, you will follow instructions and carry out assigned tasks to support daily operations and maintenance activities for wastewater remediation. Responsibilities will include inspecting, adjusting, repairing or replacing, and monitoring process equipment, meters, gauges, and controls to identify issues and ensure optimal system performance.
- Assist with field testing of water. Record and adjust pH levels and manage process chemicals, such as flocculants and coagulants, using mixers, pumps, and metering devices.
- Maintain system components by using hand tools, power tools, or precision equipment in accordance with O&M guidelines.
- Proactively ensure that job site indoor/outdoor areas are organized, clean, and free of debris.
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with fieldwork protocols.
- Keep abreast of industry standards and advancements in wastewater treatment and remediation technologies to enhance field operations, system performance and professional development.
- Understand, follow, and strictly adhere to all required safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Train and perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Needed for Success:
• 1 year of experience as a Wastewater Operator, Field Technician or Environmental Staff Scientist.
• High school diploma/GED. Associates or Bachelors a plus but not required. Vocational Technical training in wastewater a plus. N1 Wastewater certification, TWIC, OSHA 40 a plus.
• MUA, Remediation or Military water treatment knowledge desireable.
• Knowledge and ability to monitor and maintain mechanical equipment such as remediation systems, gauges and pumps a plus.
• Comfortable taking work direction and performing tasks that require handing power tools, walking and standing for extended periods. Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and locations, some of which may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to work day shift (M-F) and overtime when required.
• Highly reliable team player along with a good work ethic is a must.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to grow and develop.
• Valid driver license in good standing and ability to pass background checks (criminal/drug/alcohol/DMV) required.
Salary Range:
• $25.00/HR to $30.00/HR plus OT.
