This job works collaboratively to maintain patient safety and provide basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The role involves constant observation of the patient, notifying nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status, and intervening as needed to maintain patient safety. The candidate communicates effectively with co-workers, patients, family and visitors, performs all functions delegated by the nurse staff and adheres to policies and procedures.

EducationPreferred – High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Hospital And Telemetry Experience Certifications (Required)- Current state of practice Certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
- Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
- Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
- Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multidisciplinary teams.
- Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy and adapting explanations of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.

Physical and Environmental DemandsMedium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The job requires walking or standing to a significant degree; the incumbent works in a patient care area with exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The risk level for exposure to all communicable diseases is high.
