About

the Adult Ministries & Discipleship Pastor

The Pastor of Adult Ministries & Discipleship is a vital position established to provide strategic vision for adult spiritual formation during a season of rapid growth at Heritage Church. Reporting to the Executive Pastor and serving on the Heritage Lead Team, this leader will assume ownership of the “Connect, Grow, Launch” discipleship pathway. The role requires leading a diverse portfolio of ministries—including Small Groups, Connections, Classics, Men’s and Women’s Ministries, Celebrate Recovery, and Prayer—while partnering closely with the Connections Pastor on assimilation.

In addition to strategic leadership, the pastor will serve as a high-energy communicator on the teaching team. Ideal candidates will possess 5–10 years of experience in a large-church context and a proven track record of multiplying leaders.

The Adult Ministries & Discipleship Director’s responsibilities include:
  • Adult Discipleship & Small Groups: Provide vision, strategy, and leadership for adult spiritual growth. This includes developing the entire adult discipleship pathway and overseeing all Small and Core Discipleship Groups.
  • Teaching and Preaching: Serve on the Preaching Team and contribute to sermon series planning, with several preaching opportunities per year.
  • Leadership Oversight: Direct and coach approximately 6 direct reports, including the Connections Pastor, Classics Pastor, and leaders of Men’s, Women’s, Celebrate Recovery, and Prayer Ministries.
  • Team Leadership: Serve on the Heritage Lead Team to shape overall church direction and culture.
  • Assimilation & Pastoral Duties: Partner with the Connections Pastor on membership experiences and conduct premarital counseling and Communion services.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience: 5–10 years of pastoral experience
    , preferably within a large-church context (1,000+ attendees), with a proven track record of multiplying leaders and effective team leadership.
  • Education & Credentialing: Bachelor’s degree. Must be willing and able to obtain Credentialing with the Assemblies of God is expected.
  • Theological Alignment: Must wholeheartedly agree with believer’s baptism and firmly uphold a traditional view of marriage and human sexuality
    . Alignment with Arminian theology.
  • Required Skills: Gifted communicator, team builder, strategic thinker, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
