Overview

Responsibilities
  • Possess a SECRET security clearance within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience supervising contractor personnel; analysis, design, and installation of local and wide area networks; and analysis and installation of communications systems.
  • Familiar with engineering documentation, network configurations and topologies.
  • Organizes and directs network installations on site surveys.
  • Assesses and documents current site network configurations.
  • Directs and leads preparation of engineering plans and site installation technical design packages. Develops installation schedules.
  • Mobilizes network installation team.
  • Directs and leads preparation of drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
  • Prepares site installation and test reports. Coordinates post-installation operations and maintenance support.
  • Experience with DoD, National, Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), BICSI and OSHA safety standards. General knowledge of operating principles of wired, wireless and RF environments.
  • Wireless network (802.11b/g/a/n, WLAN/WWAN/WMAN).
  • Survey/deployment/support experience is preferred.
  • General knowledge of wired/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and perform tasks outlined in vendor documentation, technical specifications, and network practices, engineering letters and job aids.
  • Dexterity to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors.
  • Ability to work in overhead racks or grids for extended periods of time pulling long lengths of heavy cables.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs independently and up to 90 lbs with assistance as necessary.
  • Ability to climb ladders and steep staircases, including scissor lifts. Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in stressful and demanding work environments.
Minimum Experience
  • Five (5) years of cabling experience in data communications industry.
  • Aerial lift training.
  • Confined Space training.
  • Forklift training.
  • Ten (10) Hour OSHA Basic Industry course.
  • Ability to install cable infrastructure, communications equipment and materials, Ethernet, and fiber cabling to include termination and testing as well as installing/removing overhead equipment mounts.
Required Skills
  • Active BICSI Technician, Installer certification.
Other Certifications
  • BICSI Level 1 and/or Level 2 copper and fiber as required. DoD Approved 8140.
  • Baseline Certification within 12 months of the 8140 requirements fully vetted and clearly identified.
