Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Compensation & Benefits- Hourly Pay: $33.50 per hour
- Sign On Bonus: $2,000 at 30 days and $2,000 at 90 days
- CDL A required
- Certification bonus up to $700
- Quarterly bonus up to $500 each quarter
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
Second Shift 9:30 am – 6:00 pm - Annual Merit Pay Increases

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred (Vocational or Technical Certification post secondary preferred)
- Basic tools (required)
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance
- Basic diagnostics and repairs of AC and electrical systems (required)
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- All other certifications required by location (required)
- Minimum of 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy and medium duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background check including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform preventive maintenance and standard vehicle maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer as applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Other support duties; e.g., Service Island support
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 OEM Online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
