Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Battle Creek, Michigan.

• Hourly Pay: $33.50 per hour
• Sign On Bonus: $2,000 at 30 days and $2,000 at 90 days
• CDL A required
• Certification bonus up to $700
• Quarterly bonus up to $500 each quarter
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, weekends off

  Second Shift 9:30 am – 6:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred (Vocational or Technical Certification post secondary preferred)
• Basic tools (required)
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance
• Basic diagnostics and repairs of AC and electrical systems (required)
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• All other certifications required by location (required)
• Minimum of 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy and medium duty equipment
• Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background check including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform preventive maintenance and standard vehicle maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer as applicable
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties; e.g., Service Island support
• SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete 2 OEM Online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
