A critical care nursing opportunity is available on a specialized stepdown unit focused on general medical and oncology patients. This contract role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment requiring advanced clinical skills and oncology certification. Ideal candidates are experienced RNs with proficiency in chemotherapy administration and IV management.
Qualifications and Desired
Experience:
- Current Michigan RN license and BLS (AHA) certification
- ONCC or ONS oncology certification required; pending ONS may be considered
- Minimum 2 years of PCU or stepdown nursing experience
- Skilled in administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs
- Familiarity with Welch Allyn vital sign monitors, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC documentation system
- Ability to handle nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, with support staff available
- Experience working on stepdown or oncology units preferred

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Deliver exceptional nursing care for general medical and oncology stepdown patients
- Administer IV chemotherapy treatments safely and accurately
- Manage patient assessments and monitor vital signs using advanced equipment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Float to other medical-surgical areas such as acute units and emergency departments as needed
- Participate in scheduling with a block schedule option and every other weekend coverage
- Adhere to nursing standards and facility protocols on a night shift schedule (7 PM - 7:30 AM, 3 shifts/week)
- Contract position with a flexible scheduling model; weekends assigned by management with self-scheduling for other shifts
- No mandatory call responsibilities
- Supportive work environment with manageable patient ratios and charge nurse coverage
- Must be available to start during the first two weeks of the assignment
