Duties Help
* Serves as the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security Engineer within the Information Operations, J6, Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO)
* Protects AI and machine learning (ML) systems from cyber threats
* Functions as DLA's primary defense against AI-specific cyber threats to include adversarial ML attacks, model extraction attempts, data poisoning campaigns, and prompt injection vulnerabilities
* Protects mission-critical AI capabilities deployed across DLA's enterprise by ensuring they remain secure-by-design through the integration of robust security controls, continuous adversarial testing, and rigorous compliance validation
* Serves as DLA's technical authority for defending against AI-specific cybersecurity threats including model extraction, data poisoning, and backdoor implementations, that fall outside traditional IT security frameworks Requirements Help Conditions of employment

A. Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Develops comprehensive security architectures exclusively for AI/ML environments, creating isolated training environments with data exfiltration controls, secure model serving infrastructures with adversarial detection, encrypted inference pipelines for classified workloads, and zero-trust AI networks with continuous authentication.
- Conducts enterprise-level AI security risk assessments, develops AI-specific threat models for ML pipelines, and designs mitigation strategies addressing vulnerabilities throughout the AI lifecycle from data ingestion to deployment operations.
- Directs comprehensive vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and red-teaming exercises specifically designed for AI/ML environments, identifying both conventional IT vulnerabilities and AI-specific risks such as adversarial example attacks and training data corruption. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
